Description:
TODAY WE ARE BEAUTIFUL BUT SOULLESS.
(in)HUMAN represent all that humanity has to offer, freed by appearances.
_
Just as Dorian Gray’s portrait revealed the protagonist’s inner corruption, hidden behind eternal youth, the (in)HUMAN faces unveil the wounds of the soul, the imperfections that perfect appearances attempt to conceal. Through artificial intelligence, MiTch Laurenzana, with his (in)HUMAN, transcends the boundaries of traditional representation, creating thirty-three faces that reflect our deepest emotions, fears, hopes, and the diversities that make us unique. The project invites us to rise above superficiality, to recognize the intrinsic beauty in the scars of our imperfections, in an era where appearance dominates essence. Like Dorian Gray, we are all searching for beauty, but the (in)HUMAN urges us to find it within ourselves, becoming a collective mirror of the depths of our soul.
(in)HUMAN: An Immersion into the Soul
MiTch invites us on a dreamlike and profound journey with «(in)HUMAN», a series of 33 portraits generated by artificial intelligence. These entities, born from the interaction between the artist and models such as DALL-E 2 and Stable Diffusion, invite us to reflect on our humanity. If the “(in)HUMANs” could perceive only our soul, what would they reveal? Probably, the most hidden traits: anxieties, insecurities, the obsession with aesthetic perfection. Their eyes, large and penetrating, seem to delve into ours, reflecting a naked and sincere soul.
Behind each portrait lies a complex creative process. MiTch, in the role of “prompter”, provided precise instructions to the artificial intelligence, iteratively refining them. An experience that opened the doors to new forms of artistic expression and demonstrated the immense potential of AI.
After the success of the inaugural exhibition in Alassio, «(in)HUMAN» has traveled the world, from New York to Turin, passing through Berlin, Shanghai and London. Each exhibition has been an opportunity to reflect on our identity and the relationship between man and machine. In the eyes of the “(in)HUMANs” we find a spark of truth, an invitation to rediscover our deepest humanity.
A metaphysical journey that invites us to ask fundamental questions about our existence.
