Art Exhibition + Collectable

inHUMAN

Today we are beautiful but soulless.

Just as the portrait of Dorian Gray revealed the inner corruption hidden behind eternal youth, the (in)HUMAN project pierces the veil of perfect appearances to reveal the wounds and imperfections of our true essence. Through this series of thirty-three faces, MiTch Laurenzana invites us on a profound, dreamlike journey, exploring a world where artificial entities take on human form to exclusively embody our souls.
In an era dominated by superficiality, the (in)HUMANs urge us to seek beauty in the scars and fragilities that make us unique. If these creatures could perceive only our inner selves, what would they see? Likely the traits we try to hide: anxieties, insecurities, and that ephemeral pursuit of aesthetic perfection that risks hollowing us out. Their large, piercing eyes become a collective mirror capable of digging deep into the observer, reflecting a naked humanity - devastated yet incredibly fascinating.
Behind every portrait lies a complex, iterative creative process. Acting as a "prompter" using models like DALL-E 2 and Stable Diffusion, the artist has transformed language into visual matter, refining every instruction to draw introspective messages from the chaos of data. This experimental path does not seek technical perfection; instead, it utilizes the immense potential of artificial intelligence to demystify the everyday and interrogate the social nature of the individual.
This metaphysical journey is accompanied in the exhibition by the sound immersions of artist Ema Grazioli from Bergamo, created specifically to enhance the suggestions of this dreamlike, yet possible, voyage.
After traveling from New York to Turin, passing through Berlin and London, (in)HUMAN continues to pose fundamental questions about the relationship between man and machine.
In 2024, it received the "AACC-I 23" Special Mention as the best Italian artistic project in the China-Italy Contemporary Art Yearbook. In every gaze lies a spark of truth: an invitation to awaken our consciousness and rediscover, beyond the limits of traditional painting, what it truly means to be human.
